SMOKEGUARD® is our specialized low-smoke flame-retardant compound that meets the NFPA 262/UL910 requirements. These Plenum compounds are used in insulation, cushioning, and jacketing applications that require a high oxygen index, good mechanical properties, and low-temperature resistance.
Plenum cables are often found on building material lists; they are cables that have passed severe temperature tests and are suitable for installation in Plenum air spaces. A Plenum space is defined as an area through which environmental air is circulated.
As manufacturers of Plenum compounds, we comply with the NFPA-262 standard. The equivalent UL standard is UL-910, which consists of two primary tests: cable combustion properties and smoke density.
